Dinhard’s proximity to the city of Winterthur enables residents to make the most of the latter’s numerous attractions. The local recreational area is situated in the Zurich wine-growing region. In addition to these locational advantages, the municipality boasts numerous characteristics which contribute to its high quality of life. Despite the fact that the number of inhabitants has more than doubled over the last 30 years, Dinhard has been able to maintain its unique rural character. About 1,400 inhabitants live in the five villages surrounded by greenery and located in the center of beautiful recreational areas away from all heavy traffic. Despite this, the municipality is only five kilometers away from the A1 expressway. A railway journey to Zurich takes 30–40 minutes, to the city center of Winterthur 15 minutes, and a picnic on the banks of the Thur is just about 10 minutes away by bicycle.
