Canton of Zurich
With 1.4 million inhabitants, the Canton of Zurich is the most populous canton in Switzerland and, due to the large number of globally operating service and industrial sector companies it houses, is considered the country’s economic powerhouse. The canton is also home to several internationally renowned higher education institutions such as ETH Zurich, the University of Zurich, and the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) in Winterthur. The public transport network throughout the canton is second to none, and Zurich international airport is ideally located in the vicinity of both Zurich and Winterthur.
