Winterthur looks back on a long industrial history, in which energy generation, use and conversion played a significant role. To this day, the city and region have remained a location of choice for high-profile companies in this line of industry. The Zurich University of Applied Sciences’ School of Engineering (öffnet neues Fenster) in Winterthur is consistently expanding its competencies in the field of renewable energy. At the same time, the construction industry, which maintains an above-average presence in the region, is increasingly focusing on energy efficiency. Winterthur has, moreover, been named “energy city” and is now home to the Club of Rome (öffnet neues Fenster).

The energie bewegt winterthur (energy moves Winterthur) association fosters a vibrant, future-oriented economic cluster for energy-related businesses in the Winterthur region, thereby making an important contribution to the sustainable development of Winterthur and surroundings. The association was set up on 9 November 2009 in Technopark Winterthur.

Blue-Tech
Blue-Tech is an international platform for renewable energy and efficient energy solutions on which industry leaders and research institutions can present their products and innovations. The Blue-Tech 12 will take place in Winterthur from 13 to 15 september 2012.
