The Winterthur region comprises an area of roughly 300 square kilometers, making up about one sixth of the Canton of Zurich. Over half of this area is used for agricultural purposes and one third is covered by forest. Almost 10% is developed land. The main rivers in the Winterthur region are the Töss, Eulach and Thur.
