City of Illnau-Effretikon

The city of Illnau-Effretikon lies between the two hubs of Winterthur and Zurich, and is characterized by a fine blend of urban and rural qualities. Anyone who live or works here is surrounded by nature and still close to the cities of Winterthur and Zurich. Illnau-Effretikon embodies steadfastness, but at the same time breaks new ground as “energy city” – an award it received in 1998 for its efforts in energy conservation –, as a center of professional training and with its local Agenda 21 program. Open and committed to the welfare of its inhabitants, the city is home to around 150 clubs and associations and offers numerous opportunities for sports and other leisure activities.
