The city of Winterthur is surrounded by a green belt with over twenty idyllically set municipalities, which add greatly to the attraction of the region as a place to make one’s home in. People who prefer living in the country while enjoying easy connections to the city will no doubt find what they look for in one of the villages around Winterthur. Each of these municipalities has its own specific charm. The smallest count some 400 souls and are quite rural in nature, the largest have over 7,000 inhabitants and leave nothing to be desired in terms of infrastructure. The city of Illnau-Effretikon lies between the two hubs, Winterthur and Zurich, and is characterized by a fine blend of urban and rural qualities.
It pays to undertake a little tour around Winterthur and to discover the exquisite village centers and pleasant landscapes for yourself. And to savor some of the local dishes in the village restaurants.
